Google Doodles Honors Late Nigerian Football Star Stephen Keshi

Late football icon and former super eagles player and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has been honored by google with a doodle today, January 23,2018.

The technology maven decided to honor the popular football on his 56th posthumous birthday today with a doodle, a special logo on the Google page, that is usually alternated and used to recognize, as well as celebrate important holidays, event, people and their positive impacts in the society.

Stephen Keshi is recognized for his outstanding coaching abilities, which lead to the winning of the African cup of nations in 2013 and also his amazing feat in 2014 where he emerged the first coach in the African continent to make it to the knockout round of the World Cup, a feat that would be forever written in the sands if time of the nation.

In the history of the nation, Keshi is the second person to win the Nations cup while functioning as a player and as a manager.

Known affectionately as the ‘Big boss’, Keshi was a player for the national team and represented the country in the FIFA World Cup, as well as the Africa cup of Nations. He later decided to pass on his knowledge and experience in the sport by becoming a coach for the Toho national team and consecutively coached that into qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

The football icon was indeed one of the game changers in the football sector and his passing in June 2016, shook the very foundations of West Africa.
